As a chamber musician, James works in several different settings. James regularly performs in duos with vocalists, flutists and violinists and singers. He is the guitar half of the Mountain Music Duo with oboist Tenly Williams (pictured at right).

Most of the duo pieces below (and even some of the pieces for larger groups) can be performed several different ways (for example, a piece originally for guitar and flute can be performed by guitar and violin or guitar and oboe).

Also, nearly all of the Jazz and Popular tunes listed on the Solo Guitar page (and almost any other tune you can think of!) can be performed by a duo with guitar and one other instrumentalist or singer.
